Premier League tips: More festive joy for Spurs, Chelsea and City

The Premier League’s festive calendar has been given additional unpredictability because of the resurgence of Covid-19, forcing clubs either to play with reshuffled squads or to call games off entirely.

Nevertheless, the season will press ahead for now, with a midweek round of games squeezed between Christmas and New Year.

It is traditionally a period in which clubs with strength in depth thrive due to the hectic nature of the schedule.

Spurs have too much for Saints

Antonio Conte has masterminded a sharp turnaround in the fortunes of Tottenham, who will play their first Premier League away match since November 7. Spurs have won four of their six league fixtures under the Italian and are a club quickly regaining confidence.

Harry Kane bagging his third Premier League goal of the season in a 3-0 rout over Crystal Palace on Boxing Day was ominous for Tuesday’s opponents Southampton, particularly as Heung-min Son has also scored in his last four.

Saints are coming off the back of a 3-2 win over West Ham and have lost only one of their last five, but Conte has his side playing too well for them.

Tip: Priced at 2.16, Spurs are too good to ignore.

Thomas Tuchel's Chelsea should be too strong for Brighton

Chelsea to secure a three-peat

Chelsea have shown the stirrings of a return to form in recent days, with a 2-0 EFL Cup win over Brentford followed by a come-from-behind success away to Aston Villa.

Brighton should be their next victims at Stamford Bridge. Albion’s Sunday win over Brentford was their first since September but they have rarely been turned over in that time.

The Blues should be a safe enough bet to win at 1.45, but there could be some value in backing the visitors on the Asian Handicap market around the +1 mark where they're available at 2.16.

Tip: Back Chelsea to win at 1.45

City’s blistering form to continue

Alarm bells are sounding in Brentford ahead of the visit of Manchester City. The Bees are on decent form, winning two, drawing two and losing two of their last six in the league, but their opponents have been incredible in recent games.

City have scored 17 times in their last three and had the mental fortitude to stave off a Leicester fightback on Monday when it seemed they might let a 4-0 half-time lead slip.

Pep Guardiola’s side are in overdrive at present. They have scored in the first 10 minutes of four of their last five and have been sweeping sides like Brentford away in recent times. Expect that trend to continue.

Backing Manchester City -1.5 on the Asian Handicap market at 1.57 looks tremendous value, and for those who like a longer shot, a price of 2.34 on the -2.5 handicap also looks attractive.

Tip: Back Man City -1.5 on the Asian Handicap at 1.57
