Premier League: Man City to sink Spurs and continue title charge

Manchester City are one of the form teams in Europe right now and Tottenham would have to produce something special to deny the Premier League frontrunners three points on Saturday.

City confidence sky high

With just one defeat in their last 21 games in all competitions, Pep Guardiola’s City seem to have reached new heights this season. A 5-0 win on the road in the Champions League last 16 first leg against Sporting CP in midweek will certainly have done their confidence no harm ahead of a return to domestic duties this weekend.

It’s no surprise to see City as the heavy favourites going into their game with Spurs, with the hosts at 1.29 to claim all three points at the Etihad Stadium. City might well have revenge on their minds after they suffered a 1-0 defeat to Tottenham in their opening game of the Premier League season.

City were slow out of the blocks and a second-half Heung-Min Son goal saw the reigning champions make a stuttering start to their Premier League title defence. Now 25 games into the season, that loss to Spurs is one of just two defeats City have suffered in the league this term.

Expect the Citizens to come out of the blocks quickly and the hosts to be leading at half-time and full-time is available at 1.86. City have also kept clean sheets in all of their last three games in all competition and the hosts to win to nil is at 2.08.

Spurs hit a rut

Antonio Conte’s Tottenham seemed to be showing signs of real progress, as the Italian tactician got to grips with the challenge on his hands with the north London outfit. However, back-to-back Premier League defeats at the hands of Southampton and Wolves has seen Spurs drop off the pace in the hunt for a top-four finish.

Spurs are available at 11 to do the league double over City this season, while the draw at the Etihad Stadium is at 6.2. Tottenham’s recent form suggests it’s going to be a tough evening for them, at a ground where they have not won in the league since February 2016 when Harry Kane and Christian Eriksen scored the goals in a 2-1 victory.

Sterling to be on the money once again

After a standout performance for England at the European Championships last summer, Raheem Sterling has continued to impress in the Premier League this season. With 10 league goals already to his name this term, Sterling has found the back of the net four times in his last two outings against Norwich City and Sporting CP.

Sterling is 2.28 to score anytime against Spurs on Saturday, while the former Liverpool forward is at 6 to score the opening goal of the game.
