Chief executive Oliver Kahn described Bayern Munich surprise 4-2 defeat at VFL Bochum 1848 as “unacceptable” ahead of their return to Champions League action on Wednesday.

Bayern are six points clear at the top of the Bundesliga following the loss in which they conceded four first-half goals and Kahn demanded a strong response when they visit the Red Bull Arena for the first leg of the round-of-16 clash.

The German giants have won the Champions League three times since its inception in 1992 which followed three titles in its previous format as the European Cup.

Such is the expectation that Bayern are at 1.37 to win with Salzburg at 8.4 and a draw at 5.8.

Former Bayern youth player Adeyemi a threat

While Bayern Munich were going down to defeat, Salzburg came from behind to win at Rapid Vienna on Friday.

They stand 14 points clear at the top of the Austrian Bundesliga and have lost once all season.

Victory in Vienna was their third straight league win and fourth in all competitions including victory over Sevilla in the Champions League where they finished second in Group C to qualify for the last 16 for the first time.

Key to their success has been Karim Adeyemi who has scored 14 league goals and also found the net twice against Lille in the Champions League as well as against Wolfsburg and Brondby.

The Germany forward is at 9.0 to score any time.

Noah Okafor has scored three in three games - including the winner over Sevilla - and he is at 3.85 to score any time.

Lewandowski prolific

Bayern have scored in a Bundesliga record 69 straight games and in Robert Lewandowski have one of the best players on the planet.

The Poland striker’s double against Bochum took him to 26 for the season plus seven in the Champions League and he is at 1.41 to score any time.

Serge Gnabry is second top scorer and he is at 2.18 to score any time with Thomas Muller at 2.68.

Expect some goals

Bayern finished top of Group E with a 100% record of six wins and scored 22 goals while conceding three.

While Salzburg are flying high, the disparity between the domestic leagues points to a Bayern win with the German team prevailing both times when they met in the group stages last season.

With the scrapping of the away goals rule, Matthias Jaissle’s side have to go all out at the Red Bull Arena which hints at goals.

Bayern to win and both teams to score is 2.42 while Julian Nagelmann’s side to win and over 3.5 goals is at 2.48.

A Bayern clean sheet is at 2.48.

Recommended bets:

Bayern to win and over 3.5 goals @ 2.48

Karim Adeyemi to score any time @ 9.0

Serge Gnabry to score any time @ 2.18
