Tuesday's Nations League tips: Hungary can find more joy against Italians

England to return to Nations League action on Tuesday – here are our top tips for their game against Germany and three other matches across Europe.

Bosnia-Herzegovina vs Romania

7.45pm, Premier Sports 1

Romania will be looking to bounce back from a 2-0 loss to Montenegro on matchday one; another defeat here would leave them bottom of Group B3 a third of the way through the campaign. That was the third time in their last five matches that Romania have failed to score, so they will no doubt set out to keep things tight at the back against Bosnia.

That would force the home team to break down a deep defence in order to emerge victorious, and they will likely need to remain patient: Bosnia have not scored a first-half goal in any of their last seven games.

Recommended bet: 0-0 at half-time @ 2.54

Finland vs Montenegro

5pm, Premier Sports 1

Montenegro’s victory over Romania makes them the early pace-setters in the group. They are undoubtedly the underdogs against Finland, a team that qualified for Euro 2020 and were not far off making it through to the knockout stage.

Their opponents are a decent side too, though, and we can expect this to be a close game: Montenegro have lost only three of their last 24 fixtures by more than a one-goal margin. In fact, given the favourable price available, it could be worth backing a surprise away win here.

Recommended bet: Montenegro to win @ 3.85

Germany vs England

7.45pm, Channel 4

England will be looking to bounce back from Saturday’s shock 1-0 defeat by Hungary when they head to Munich. That was a hugely disappointing display from Gareth Southgate’s side, who were toothless in attack and too ponderous in possession. The manager will be looking for a response on Tuesday.

Germany drew 1-1 with Italy last time out and will have earmarked this fixture as a chance to make a statement following their loss to the same opposition at Euro 2020. England are unlikely to be so poor going forward again – they might actually benefit from being afforded a little more space – so we could see goals at both ends.

Recommended bet: Both teams to score @ 1.84

England hoping to have more about them in attack against Germany.

Italy vs Hungary

7.45pm, Premier Sports 1

Hungary’s victory over England was just the latest in a series of strong showings against top-tier opposition. Marco Rossi’s men performed admirably against France, Portugal and Germany at Euro 2020, while they also held England to a draw in a World Cup qualifier last October.

Italy’s confidence is still fragile following their defeat by North Macedonia in the World Cup play-offs in March, and their 3-0 loss to Argentina last week. Given that Hungary have managed to find the net against France, Germany and England in the last 12 months, a clean sheet could be beyond Italy here.

Recommended bets: Both teams to score @ 2.42

Recommended bets

Bosnia-Romania 0-0 HT @ 2.54

Germany-England BTTS @ 1.84

Italy-Hungary BTTS @ 2.42
