Football fans have a busy Wednesday in store as the midweek Premier League action continues apace. Here are Greg Lea’s Premier League predictions for the four early kick-offs.

Bournemouth v Southampton

Kick-off: 7.30pm Wednesday

A 2-2 draw with Fulham on Saturday made it six games without a loss for Bournemouth, who are in the top half of the table after ten rounds of fixtures. Gary O’Neil has yet to taste defeat since taking the reins on an interim basis, and a victory here would surely be enough for him to earn the job permanently.

Southampton stopped the rot with a 1-1 draw with West Ham United at the weekend, but Ralph Hasenhuttl remains under pressure. His team have slipped into the bottom three after taking just one point from the last 15 available.

The Saints are a streaky side under Hasenhuttl, who has got himself out of deeper holes in the past. But Bournemouth will look to make a fast start to this south-coast derby, just as they did with a second-minute goal against Fulham. Southampton may have to come from behind to avoid defeat.

Prediction: Bournemouth to score over 0.5 first-half goals @ 2.14

Brentford v Chelsea

Kick-off: 7.30pm Wednesday

A 2-0 scoreline might suggest a comfortable win, but Chelsea’s triumph over Aston Villa on Sunday was anything but. Kepa Arrizabalaga came to the Blues’ rescue on several occasions, while Villa were left to rue individual errors at pivotal moments.

Nevertheless, Graham Potter’s side are on an impressive run: Since his debut game in the dugout ended in a 1-1 draw with Red Bull Salzburg, Chelsea have won five on the bounce in all competitions.

Each of their last four victories have featured a clean sheet, but keeping Ivan Toney and Brentford quiet will be tough even for Chelsea’s newly solid rearguard.

Prediction: Both teams to score @ 1.83

Liverpool v West Ham

Kick-off: 7.30pm Wednesday

Liverpool will hope that Sunday’s victory over Manchester City proves to be a turning point in their season. The Reds went into that game in the bottom half of the table, but defeating the champions will give them renewed belief as Jurgen Klopp’s side look to close the gap to the top four, which currently stands at six points.

West Ham drew 1-1 with Southampton at the weekend, extending their unbeaten run to five games in all competitions. But with Liverpool desperate to start putting a string of wins together, this could be a difficult evening for David Moyes’ men.

Prediction: Liverpool -1.5 Asian handicap @ 2.1

Newcastle v Everton

Kick-off: 7.30pm Wednesday

Newcastle extended their unbeaten run to five games on Sunday, as they and Manchester United played out a 0-0 draw at Old Trafford. Had they taken a little more care with their final ball, the Magpies could easily have picked up all three points against Erik ten Hag’s men.

That will be the aim when Everton come to town on Wednesday. Frank Lampard’s side suffered a 2-0 defeat by Tottenham Hotspur last time out and are set for another tough match here.

Newcastle have made St James’ Park a fortress under Eddie Howe, with just one league defeat at home in 2022. Everton created little of note against Spurs and could draw another blank in this one.

Prediction: Newcastle to win to nil @ 2.62

Wednesday’s Premier League Predictions

Bournemouth v Southampton: Bournemouth to score over 0.5 first-half goals @ 2.14
Brentford v Chelsea: Both teams to score @ 1.83
Liverpool v West Ham: Liverpool -1.5 Asian handicap @ 2.1
Newcastle v Everton: Newcastle to win to nil @ 2.62
