The Nations League fixtures continue to come thick and fast, with several more games to look forward to on Monday. Here are our top tips for five selected matches.
Austria vs Denmark
7.45pm, Box Nation
Denmark came from behind to beat France away from home last time out. It was yet another impressive performance from Kasper Hjulmand’s side, who reached the semi-finals of the European Championship last summer and then qualified for the World Cup with the joint-highest points tally on the continent.
Austria were also victorious on Thursday, running out 3-0 winners over Croatia to give Ralf Rangnick a dream debut. It was the type of display that suggests they should be able to find the net against this excellent Denmark team at the very least.
Recommended bet: Both teams to score @ 1.88
Belarus vs Azerbaijan
7.45pm, Premier Extra
The Nations League was created to give European countries the chance to play regular matches against similarly ranked nations in a competitive environment. It served Belarus well in 2018/19, when the White Wings won promotion from League D after going unbeaten in their group.
If the evidence of their 1-0 loss to Slovakia on Thursday is anything to go by, League C will be a struggle. Azerbaijan were also beaten on matchday one, and you do not need us to tell you this is unlikely to be a classic.
Recommended bet: Under 1.5 goals @ 2.38
Iceland vs Albania
7.45pm, Premier Extra
Iceland missed out on Euro 2020 and will not be at the World Cup later this year, but they are still punching above their weight (their population is just over half that of Luxembourg, for instance). Following Russia’s expulsion, Iceland will fancy their chances of winning promotion to League A from a three-team group.
Albania’s only success in their last four matches was a slender and not wholly convincing 1-0 triumph over Andorra. Go for Iceland in this one.
Recommended bet: Iceland to win @ 2.42
Latvia vs Liechtenstein
5pm, Premier Sports 1
We are approaching the 20th anniversary of Latvia’s appearance at Euro 2004, a minor miracle given the tournament featured just 16 teams back then. The national team has fallen quite a way in the 18 years since, but a five-match unbeaten run going into this game gives Latvia a rare slice of optimism.
Liechtenstein are in dismal form having suffered defeat in 14 of their last 15 matches, so this should be a relatively comfortable encounter for the home side.
Recommended bet: Latvia to win both halves @ 2.54
Slovakia vs Kazakhstan
7.45pm, Premier Extra
Kazakhstan got their Nations League campaign off to the perfect start with a 2-0 triumph over Azerbaijan last time out, but they will find things much tougher going against Slovakia. Kazakhstan do not travel particularly well, as a record of one win in their last nine away games illustrates.
Slovakia beat Belarus 1-0 on Thursday and will be targeting top spot in this group. Monday’s fixture should not cause them too many problems.
Recommended bet: Slovakia to win to nil @ 1.78
Recommended bets
Austria-Denmark BTTS @ 1.88
Belarus-Azerbaijan under 1.5 @ 2.38
Iceland @ 2.42
Latvia both halves @ 2.54
Slovakia to nil @ 1.78
