We are in store for another round of thrilling EFL fixtures on Bank Holiday Monday with fixtures affecting top and bottom of all three divisions. Here is a selection of our best bets.
Middlesbrough v Huddersfield
Monday 18 April, 12:30, Sky Sports Football
The jostling for the play-off places seems set to go to the final day of the season with five points separating fifth to 10th. Chris Wilder’s side have stuttered in recent weeks with one point from three games in which they have failed to score a single goal. Victory in the early kick-off would see them go sixth and they are at 1.84 to claim all three points.
Victory for the Terriers would put them on the brink of cementing a play-off spot and they are at 4.5 to win. However, goals will not be easy to come by against the hosts and under 2.5 is at 1.81. Both teams drew on Good Friday and the same again is at 3.5.
Recommended bet: Draw @ 3.5
Barnsley v Peterborough
Monday 18 April, 3:00pm
Both sides are staring relegation in the face with the Reds on the brink less than a year after they reached the play-offs. Their inability to hold on to a winning lead has cost the South Yorkshire side dearly and they are at 1.71 to score first.
They are 10 points from safety with 15 available and with their destiny out of their hands, nothing less than a win will do and they are at 1.96 to do so. Peterborough are one place and a point above their hosts and travel to Oakwell on a three-game unbeaten run. They beat play-off contenders Blackburn last time out with two late goals and they are at 4.1 to win.
Recommended bet: Barnsley score first @ 1.71
Coventry v Bournemouth
Monday 18 April, 3:00pm
Two straight wins - including victory at Fulham - sees the Sky Blues sit three points outside the top six. They have been on target seven times in their last two games and are at 4.1 to score in both halves and at 3.15 for the win.
The Cherries have taken two points from nine and they may start the match just one point ahead of Huddersfield in second should the West Yorkshire side clinch the early kick-off. They have not scored in the last three games although they have faced tough opponents. A Bournemouth win is at 2.42 with a score draw at 3.9.
Recommended bet: Draw/both teams score @ 3.9
Plymouth Argyle v Sunderland
Monday 18 April, 3:00pm
Plymouth’s form has been patchy in recent weeks with two defeats and one win in four games which followed a six-match winning run. Goals have dried up too with one in the last four with Stephen Schumacher’s side facing a stiff test against Sunderland. They are at 2.48 to win with a draw at 3.1.
The Black Cats are on a hot streak with six wins and two draws in eight games with last-minute winners in the last three. They have also conceded three in the last two and Sunderland to win/both teams to score is at 5 and at 3.7 to score in both halves.
Recommended bet: Sunderland to win/both teams to score @ 5
Forest Green Rovers v Oldham Athletic
Monday 18 April, 3:00pm
Forest Green have not yet been able to get over the line and clinch promotion to League One. Despite being thumped 4-0 by struggling Barrow on Good Friday, they are nine points clear at the top of League Two. They have a 75% chance of beating the Latics in what is likely to be a tight affair and are at 3.15 to win/both teams to score.
Oldham are staring relegation in the face with late goals proving costly for the Latics. They have four games left to secure their survival with a win at 6.6 and a draw at 4.1.
Recommended Bet: Forest Green Rovers to win/both teams to score @ 3.15
Recommended bets:
Middlesbrough/Huddersfield draw @ 3.5
Barnsley score first @ 1.71
Coventry/Bournemouth draw/both teams score @ 3.9
Sunderland win/BTS @ 5
Forest Green Rovers win/BTS @ 3.15
