Groups A to D in the Champions League conclude on Tuesday – here are our predictions and Greg Lea’s top Champions League tips for the action across the continent.

Bayern v Inter

Kick-off: 8pm Tuesday

The final positions in the group of death have already been determined: Bayern Munich will advance in first place and Inter are guaranteed to finish as runners-up. For the second season on the bounce, Barcelona will drop into the Europa League.

The pressure will therefore be off both teams at the Allianz Arena, and we could see Julian Nagelsmann and Simone Inzaghi shuffle their packs. Both teams will be keen to win against a fellow European giant, but the lack of jeopardy means this is likely to be an open and entertaining encounter.

Furthermore, Bayern alone are averaging more than three goals per match in the Champions League, while Inter scored three at the Camp Nou in their most recent away game in Europe. There should be plenty of goal-mouth action here.

Prediction: Over 3.5 goals @ 2.02

Liverpool v Napoli

Kick-off: 8pm Tuesday

After back-to-back defeats by Nottingham Forest and Leeds United, Liverpool are closer to the bottom half of the Premier League than the top four. Jurgen Klopp’s side just cannot find a way to generate momentum this term, although they have at least secured qualification for the Champions League knockouts with a game to spare.

That is just as well given the way Napoli are playing right now. Luciano Spalletti’s side have won 15 of their 17 matches in all competitions this season. There is an outside chance that they could become the most successful team in Champions League group stage history: a four-goal win at Anfield would move them onto 18 points and a +20 goal difference, surpassing the Bayern Munich sides of 2019/20 and 2021/22.

Napoli have been sensational so far this season and the odds of an away win are too tempting to pass up.

Prediction: Napoli to win @ 4.3

Marseille v Tottenham

Kick-off: 8pm Tuesday

If there is to be drama on matchday six of the Champions League, it will most likely be found in Group D. All four teams could still go through or be eliminated this week. The winner of Sporting CP vs Eintracht Frankfurt will advance, as will the victor at the Stade Velodrome.

A draw would be enough for Spurs, who are top of the table with eight points to their name. In a boost for Antonio Conte’s side, Marseille lost their last European assignment to Frankfurt and have taken just one point from the last 12 available in Ligue 1.

It is notable, though, that Tottenham have conceded the first goal in each of their last three Premier League games, as well as in their last two outings in this competition. Marseille will be keen to make a quick start and they could draw first blood in front of a raucous atmosphere at the Velodrome.

Prediction: Marseille to score first @ 2.14

Rangers v Ajax

Kick-off: 8pm Tuesday

With zero points and a goal difference of -18, Rangers are in danger of finishing with the worst record of any team in Champions League group-stage history. A defeat by two goals or more on Tuesday would secure that dishonour for the ‘Gers, who have been out of their depth at Europe’s top table.

However, Ajax are virtually guaranteed a place in the Europa League, so they may rest some of their first-teamers with an eye on this weekend’s crunch Eredivisie clash with PSV. Perhaps Rangers will be able to salvage some pride at the last.

Prediction: Rangers or draw @ 1.92
